DAY1 - LISBON / SETÚBAL / ÉVORA
Your car rental will be dropped off for you at your hotel. Depart
to Evora via Setubal, passing over the green Arrábida Mountain’s
road. Travel South through the province of Alentejo, on the way
to Évora, a "World heritage city", according
to UNESCO, overnight in Evora at Hotel da Cartuxa no breakfast
or in Redondo at Convent of Sao Paulo no breakfast.
DAY2 - ÉVORA / ESTREMOZ / CASTELO DE VIDE
Visit Évora; (the ruins of the Roman Temple, the Cathedral
and the Chapel of bones). Proceed to Estremoz, a beautiful town
dominated by its medieval castle and 17th Century walls. Drive
to Castelo de Vide. Overnight at Hotel Garcia da Horta or Pousada
Sta Maria in Marvao with breakfast (for stays up to 28 February)
DAY 3 - CASTELO DE VIDE / MARVÃO / CASTELO BRANCO / COVILHÃ
Walking visit to Castelo de Vide and its remarkable streets with
14th, 15th and 16th Century houses. On to visit Marvão
and its medieval castle. Continue to Castelo Branco, capital of
Beira Baixa province (short stop to visit to the Royal Gardens).
Proceed to Covilhã, located in the lower slopes of Serra
da Estrela mountain range. Overnight at hotel Dona Maria in Covilha
no breakfast.
DAY 4 - COVILHA / MANTEIGAS / VISEU
Departure to the highest point of Serra da Estrela mountain range
- Torre - 2.000 metres high. Spectacular abrupt cliffs from where
water springs out forming beautiful cascades. Continue to Manteigas,
picturesque village and on Viseu, one of the most important towns
of Beira Alta province. Overnight at hotel Grao Vasco no breakfast.
DAY 5- VISEU/ PORTO
Here you must not miss the Grao Vasco Museum with important painting
collections (and the Romanesque Cathedral. Depart to Porto via
Lame go In LAMEGO the most impressive image is perhaps the Sanctuary
of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios with is magnificent Baroque staircase
of 686 steps, Overnight in Porto at Hotel Infante de Sagres, no
breakfast..
DAY 6-PORTO
This is a walking city, spend your day, visiting the old Cathedral,
the 19th Century Stock-Exchange Palace, the Church of Saint Francis
and of course the Porto wine cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia. Return
to hotel.
DAY 7- PORTO / BATALHA / ALCOBAÇA / ÓBIDOS
Departure to Obidos. Upon arrival first do your check in. Depart
to Batalha (visit the 15th Century monastery, classified by UNESCO
as World Patrimony) and Alcobaça (visit to its imposing
Cistercian monastery from the 12th Century). Return to Obidos
for your at Albergaria Josefa D’ Obidos with breakfast.
DAY 8- ÓBIDOS / SINTRA / ESTORIL
A walk around this lovely whitewashed beautiful village surrounded
by medieval walls is a must. Continue to Sintra. Visit to the
Royal palace. Proceed to Cabo da Roca (Roca cape - the most westerly
point in continental Europe). Continue to Estoril for your overnight
at Sana Classic Hotel with breakfast.
DAY 9-ESTORIL
Enjoy your day at leisure. Overnight in Estoril.
